  1. This is brilliant, simple and makes so much sense. And, of course, following these guidelines takes a lot of time.

I wonder, do you have something written or a comment to make on this question? How do I portion out my time for various outreach endeavors?

By that I means, I do I measure the value of Twitter, Linkedin, Blog, online group discussions, writing articles, writing a book and portion out my time and energy accordingly?

Is this personal with an answer specialized for each individual? Or can some general statements be made?

    Thank you!

  2. Hi Joanna,

Thanks for commenting on our blog.

Marketing is about testing. And every industry is different. You need to try everything and see what works. Be diverse and when you find a winner you stick to it!

  3. Thanks for sharing this post. As an owner of an Internet Marketing/SEO firm, I would have to completely agree with everything that you have mentioned here. One thing that I would definitely include is making sure that your content is targeting specific keywords. This helps in getting your blog indexed correctly with the Search Engines for specific terms. Excellent posting and again thanks for sharing! :)

  4. This is an excellent list. It is good for small business owners who don't have a lot of time!

    Joanna,

I think Ajax said it right. You must test. Be sure you are documenting where you leads came from, how much time you had to spend on each activity, etc. Networking may be the best thing for you, but others may have much better luck with Twitter. It is based on the individual, so you must track everything!

Thanks for the advice! I have been updated my content once (maybe twice) a week. But I'm thinking I need to up my game after reading your article....Is the 3-5 number optimal? How much does this improve page ranks?

    Thanks again,

  11. I think you left out the #1 way to promote your blog, even though you slightly alluded to it in #5, and that is to write strong content that will be of value to your prospects.

Without compelling and far above average content, all the other tips are meaningless.

Definitely some good ideas for those starting out. If you are new to blogging, be sure to check out http://prevailpr.com/resources/30-blogging-tips

  12. Hey!
This all is really great! The ways are simple and, most important, dont cost you much :) Just time...But my question is - how do you promote it in the area where such things as blogging, social media and even twitting is not yet developped?!
For example, I am working for a big company but at the moment am on a project in a small Eastern European country. The business has prospectives, but i believe that in times of recetion it is the internet that can if not bring you ahead, at least keep you floating.
I created a blog - probably first corporate blog in this area. Unfortunately, the internet space is not that yet developped - they do not know twitter, maybe 2% of population are aware of facebook...yes, there are local social network communities but their level is still pre-mature. Maybe its because it is NOT in English....? Could it be that the language is a barrier?
Thank you very much for any advise :)
